About CEEDAY

CEEDAY (Canadians Enabling the Education and Development of African Youth) is a project of Accountable Development Works, a Canadian organization that fosters accountable grassroots development work in several countries.

CEEDAY is a group of Canadians and Burundians dedicated to empowering children and young adults in Africa who have experienced the trauma of war and ethnic violence.

Our vision is to help equip, not only the youth of Burundi, but whole communities as they use their creative resources to shelter, care for and educate youth at risk.

Who we are:

Jackson Quincy Nahayo CEEDAY director
Jackson experienced war first hand as a child. Separated from his family in Burundi by ethnic violence, Jackson fled to Zambia. As a teen he immigrated to Canada and began looking for ways to provide a better future for others in Burundi with stories like his.

Josiah Neufeld CEEDAY volunteer project coordinator
Josiah is a Canadian who spent most of his childhood in Burkina Faso. He works as a journalist in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Erick Nduwimana CEEDAY fundraising coordinator
Erick lived through Burundi’s civil war as a child. He came to Canada at the age of 18 and is completing a nursing degree in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Kleanza Bennett
Kleanza has worked in Zambia doing education and agricultural development.

Greg Phillips
Greg Phillips is a freelance photojournalist based in Victoria, BC. He has taken his camera and keen eye for detail to many countries, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Kenya and Burundi.
